How To Save Money in 2020
This hectic and crazy year is FINALLY winding down and the last quarter has arrived.
The year definitely has been a rollercoaster, while we’ve been working hard to maintain our finances.
Even though we’re down to the last 3-month stretch of this whirlwind. I have a few ways you can still buckle down and save a few extra coins, so you can end the year with more cash in your pockets!
1. Ibotta
Ibotta is a rebate app that lets you receive cash back for tons of groceries, personal hygiene products, and random household items. All you have to do is scan your receipt after you shop and Ibotta will give you cash back for the items that have rebates. It’s THAT simple! 2. Dine At Home
Eating take out multiples times a week can drain your pockets quicker than you realize! Instead of ordering that Starbucks cold brew every morning, dust off that coffee pot and make your own fresh coffee at home. If your struggle is eating out at lunch time during work or school, starting doing meal prep for the week! That way you’ll have a meal for every single day of the week. It doesn’t have to be boring! Switch up the sides, add a dessert, get creative!
3. Save Your Change (Yes, The Coins)
COINS ADD UP! Always save your spare change! You can roll your coins or drop them in a huge bin and just keep adding more until it gets full. At the end of the year, you can cash it in and get anywhere from $100-$300!

Even though the year is winding down, it is NEVER too late to start a budget! Making a budget now will help you see what your money has actually been going towards this year and you can see exactly where you can cut corners! Doing this can help you finish the year off with some extra savings and get you ahead for the next year! A few great budget apps include Empower, Digit, Albert, and many more! Do your research and find out which one would work best for your budgeting needs.
6. Use Coupons
While they may sound a little old school… Contrary to popular belief, coupons definitely have NOT gone out of style. Whether you are trying to save a quick buck or become an extreme couponer, using coupons is one of the easiest ways to save money when shopping for your daily necessities. You can find coupons in you local newspaper or even print them out online! Some stores may even use digital coupons so use which ever method is most convenient for you,
7. Side Hustle

8. Invest
There isn’t a better time than now to invest in a few stocks, to help your money work for you and grow over time. Apple and Microsoft recent split their shares, which means the cost of 1 share is significantly lower than it was previously! Take advantage of this and store some extra money into a stock of your choice. It also doesn’t have to be a lump sum! Apps such as Robinhood and CashApp allow you buy fractions of a share so you can get started for as little as ONE DOLLAR! It can definitely pay off in the long run!
9. Sell Your Extra Stuff
I’m sure there are a few impulse buys in your closet that have been hanging there for months, untouched. Time for a closet clean-out! Gather up all of your extra clothes and accessories, post them online, and sell them! This is a quick and easy way to get some extra cash back in your pocket.
10. Cancel Any Unnecessary Subscriptions
Do you have anything that you signed up for this year just to try it out and ended up forgetting to cancel it? Now is the time to cut those random, unnecessary bills out of the budget. Paying for apps and subscriptions may not seem like a lot, but $3 here and $4 there, really does add up quickly! Cancel any memberships and subscriptions that you aren’t using, so those coins can stay in the bank!
