How To Increase Blog Traffic
You’ve finally started your blog.
You’re pumped.
You’re excited.
BUT…. now you are probably wondering…. how do I get people to visit?
It can be a little rough, figuring out what exactly you should start doing to bring new eyes to your website. There are so many different methods of advertising and promotion that it can be hard to decide which method would work best for your blog.
I’ve got some universal tips that will help ANY website get an increase in blog traffic.
1. Narrow Down Your Niche
Niching down will help you to gain a solid base audience. If you are just starting out and your posts don’t have a theme or a general topic, it will be hard to pull in consistent readers because they won’t know what to expect from you next.
For example, if your blog is about beauty, start with one category first. So, you can put out content about different types foundation at first. Write about the different finishes and coverages of different brands of foundations. And then after you have established credibility within that topic, bring something new to the table. Next, you can discuss different powders, then move on to eyeshadow palettes or lipsticks, until you have eventually touched base with just about every product the beauty community likes to read about. This will help you gradually earn readers within each ‘mini-niche’ until you have reached a whole community.
2. Pinterest
Many people think of Pinterest as just another social media platform, but what Pinterest’s really serves as is a SEARCH ENGINE. People go to Pinterest to find things, such as ideas, suggestions, or tips. Most people make Pinterest Boards to save the things that they want to refer back to, such as recipes, DIYs, home decor and…. you guessed it. BLOG POSTS. Pinterest is has SO many posts of different blog topics and blog suggestions for people to read, sooo it would be best to make sure that you’re in that search pool. Every time you publish a new post, choose a graphic or make a flyer pertaining to your topic and post it on Pinterest with a direct link to your post. This will definitely help to increase traffic to your blog page.
3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization is imperative for you to rank in Google Search and show up on the results page. Some things that you can do to help your search engine optimization include:
Making sure your titles pertain to the context of the content.
Filling out your descriptions making them full of information about the post.
Optimize your website so that the mobile version is easy to navigate.
Always create valuable, high-quality content.
4. Google Keywords
Always use google keyword planner before you start, constructing your post. Google Keywords is a program that allows you to see what exactly people are typing into the google search engine pertaining to different subjects.
See how my post is about blog traffic? So I would type in “blog traffic” to see what other word combinations people are using to search this same topic. The suggestions may include “how to increase blog traffic” , “how to get more blog traffic” , “how to check my blog traffic” , and so many more combinations.
I would then make sure I use a few of these exact phrases throughout my title, my description, and my tags.
5. Promote Your Content
Always, always, always SHARE your content. Share with family, share with friends, in Facebook groups, on Instagram, Twitter and any other social media you can think of! There are always people watching and scrolling through social media and you never know who might click and share your content with someone else!
