How I Prioritize My Goals

There’s never an easy solution to this topic. There’s no one way to prioritize your goals and create a plan to accomplish them. You simply just have to do what works for you. So, with that being said, I’m going to break down how ‘I’ prioritize my goals and create a plan to crush them one by one.

Make a plan

First, I sit down at my desk with my notebook, a pen and a delicious cup of iced coffee. Then, I write down all of my goals (in no particular order) so I can have them right in front of me.

Once I have them all written, I proceed to group them by time-frame and label them either short term or long term goals. This step helps me to see which (short-term) goals I should put at the top of my list. Next, I go through this group of goals and I notate what tasks I will need to accomplish to complete each of these goals.

I ask myself things like…

What steps would it take?

How much time and/or money will I need to invest? (If opening a business, buying a home, etc.)

How much mental space would this particular goal occupy? (Stress, anxiety, no time for leisure.)

Am I ready for the responsibilities that may come with accomplishing this goal? (Mortgages, home repairs, car notes, maintenance, etc.)

Once I have decided which goals are the most easiest for me to complete, I prioritize them FIRST. I know that the easier the goal is to complete, the quicker it will get done and I can move on to the next. This gives me a greater sense of accomplishment because I’m able to complete multiple short-term goals and (without even realizing it) start completing a few long-term goals in the process.

This may seem a bit too obsessive to some, buuutttt this is what works for me. Remember, to never be too hard on yourself when working towards achieving your goals. Everyone is different and everyone thinks in different ways and at different paces. Always do what works for you!
